Portrait painter Christopher Banahan is an award winning artist, who creates contemporary portraits. He has built up a reputation for his distinctive style of portrait painting, often creating an "antique appearance" giving the paintings a sense of intrigue and mystery. His work is in the collection of the Arts Council, the Office of Public Works, the A.I.B. Bank Collection, Microsoft and Dáil Eireann. His work can be found in many private collections in Ireland, Europe and U.S.A.

After developing a series of childrens portraits for a fairy tale story, he has built up a reputation for his portraits of children in contemplation, with numerous public commissions, mainly for colleges, hospitals and civic centres, and was chosen to be artist in residence at Stratford College in Dublin, where he was commissioned to portray all the pupils of the school. The portraits were offically unveiled by President Mary McAleese, in December 2002.
